Transcript: Avocado Margaritas With Tokyo Police Club
Dinner with the Band
Episode “Avocado margaritas with Tokyo Police Club “
Sam: Alright so we are done with the Migas for Tokyo police Club. I figured in the tradition of Austin and the whole theme. We would make avocado margaritas. We are going to start with lime juice, or limes I should say. We have an avocado, we have ice, and we have white tequila. And triple sec, which this is full. And sugar.
There you have it, the avocado margarita, Tokyo police club, drink it.
Lets eat, I feel like I haven’t eaten all day. Well let’s start by doing this, because we need to put these in us.
Everyone: Cheers.
Sam: Avocado margarita. Well let’s eat.
David Monks: These are actually really good.
Sam: Yeah it doesn’t really taste like avocados, but the texture is kind of like it.
David Monks: Its there.
Sam: Its silky, puree like. You know what I think the rig is, open it up and actually do that kind of whole rig. Look at you; you got a whole new technique.
Graham Wright: I thought I could fit it better than I could.
Sam: He went diaper style, which is…
Graham Wright: It fits good.
Sam: It’s something I have never seen. And he is doing hat style. I don’t know what style you’re doing.
David Monks: I just forked a hole in mine.
Sam: Roll it up it will be fine. There are a lot of chilies in there too.
David Monks: Good.
Sam: It was your idea. So you guys have been toying around with the EP?
David Monks: We have actually like been on the road non stop. We have had one day off in the last two months I think.
Sam: Really, well your family misses you.
David Monks: Totally.
Sam: I am sure my family misses you.
David Monks: Yeah everyone misses us.
Sam: These are banging.
David Monks: They are really good.
Sam: I heard a funny story; some one had seen you play somewhere. And I guess the crowd was going nuts blah, blah. And you guys were finished, and they were like play more play more. And you guys were like that’s all the sons we have!
Greg Alsop: That’s true we play almost everything we can almost every night. And it’s just now on this tour, wow alright, let’s pull out some new stuff. Let’s pad the set a little bit.
David Monks: We did a big headlining show in Toronto I guess a couple of days ago.
Greg Alsop: Pulled out all the stops.
David Monks: Encore. All the stops were pulled, after the encore it was thirty eight minutes.
Sam: Yeah?
Greg Alsop: We have kind of been all over the place. And we were in Europe in February and it was the first time we got to like rent a proper van.
David Monks: Everyone drives these very tall vans.
Greg Alsop: Yeah, there called sprinters and you can like stand up in them. And we were in Denmark and the woman at the hotel desk assured us that our van would fit in there underground parking garage. And she was almost right by an uh…
Graham Wright: Our van fit in perfectly, our sunroof did not.
Sam: No shit.
Greg Alsop: It tore right off.
Graham Wright: Unfortunately it was attached to the van at the time.
Greg Alsop: Yeah.
Sam: There was too much air in the tires.
David Monks: Like blizzards in Scandinavia.
Greg Alsop: And just rain UK weather.
David Monks: So there was this like one seat in the middle, and whoever sat in the seat just got rained on.
Greg Alsop: Yeah, it kind of just depended on Velocity and your turning angle at that point someone will get a jet of water in the face, with every move we made.
Graham Wright: But when the van was inside, I mean it was wedged in the underground parking lot door and it was so snowy and it was up an incline. And we were trying to drive it out, and nothing is happening. So we went to the lady at the hotel desk and we said can you bring us some salt. She hoed and hummed and then she came out with a bucket and you know just a regular sized pail, maybe a quarter filed with salt. And she gives it to us, and I guess she thought we wanted to have some margaritas or something. She was like why don’t you use it all. And I am like are you serious, there is like a van here! It is crammed in your door no one else can get in no one else can out. Maybe you should bring us more salt.
Sam: They are very passive people I think.
Graham Wright: I guess so, they just didn’t get it.
Josh Hook: Smash your margarita. Yours is sitting right there and I was about to do it.
Greg Alsop: I know I don’t think I was ready for it.
Sam: Oh what’s the matter; you can’t smash it in someone’s face can you?
Greg Alsop: Oh you took that out of my hand!
Josh Hook: You retaliated, you can’t retaliate.
Greg Alsop: That was retaliating, but you took it out of my hand, that was beyond the game.
Well I guess my cherry has been broken, with my sandwich being smashed.
Graham Wright: Also my new clothes.
Sam: Alright well you know what I guess that’s it for Migas, as well as Tokyo Police Club. That’s a wrap. I want to thank the guys for coming, thanks guys for showing up. You got stuff all over your face.
Graham Wright: I know that’s my little…
Sam: It’s like a salsa hickey. Uh thanks for watching we will see you guys when we finish these. Cheers. I am still eating this god damn thing I don’t care.
